How I Use the Marketing Calendar by CoSchedule

How I Use the Marketing Calendar by CoSchedule

For us Digital Marketers, it's important to have our trusted tool that we can use to schedule and plan our social media posts and other marketing efforts. I tried a lot of platforms before and now, I found my work buddy with CoSchedule.

I'm not sure how I would be able to stay on top of my marketing without CoSchedule. It's the one tool that manages all my clients' social media content, blog content, and more in one place. This is particularly helpful because it helps me keep organized by letting me know when posts are due so I can plan efficiently.

What is CoSchedule?

CoSchedule Review

CoSchedule's Marketing Calendar is a great tool for managing your social media and blog posts.

It's an editorial calendar for bloggers and marketers that helps you plan your content months in advance and see what's happening on all your social networks at once! You can also schedule topics, newsletters, or blog posts ahead of time so they are published automatically.

They have an easy-to-use interface that lets you plan out what content will be posted on which days, helps you schedule when it should go live, and help you organize and plan your marketing projects in general.

How much does CoSchedule costs?

Their pricing plan is $29/month if paid annually or $39/month if paid monthly per user. You can try it for free first for 14 days so you can get a feel of the platform.

What are the features of CoSchedule?

Some notable features that I love about CoSchedule include:

  •  Can connect to 10 social media profiles for the paid plan (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn)
  • Easy interface with their Drag and Drop option
  • You can set color labels and project types
  • Different Calendar Views
  • Idea Pane where you can put your ideas and other marketing plans first before transferring them to your calendar
  • You can add tasks
  • Integration with Google Calendar so you can also track your meetings and events. You can also integrate RSS feeds, WordPress, MailChimp, and more. (P.S: I haven't tried the direct publishing to WordPress and MailChimp)

Why did I choose CoSchedule?

To keep my CoSchedule review short, I will be sharing my top 3 reasons why I chose CoSchedule.

Reason #1: CoSchedule has a share-only calendar feature

The main selling point why I chose CoSchedule is as a freelancer with multiple clients, I need a platform that can help me send posts and content for approval without doing a double amount of work.

CoSchedule Review

What I did before was to create a Google Sheet content calendar, with the copy and artwork included, and send it over to my clients for approval. Once approved, that's when I'll schedule it to the platform I was using or to Facebook Business Suite.

With CoSchedule, I can just share a read-only link via email to the client for review. The client can inform me if the content is good to go for posting. This feature has been very helpful for me to streamline and manage everything in one place.

When sending to clients for review, I'll use the status "Pending Review" and once it's approved, I can change it to Schedule and let CoSchedule choose the best time to post the content. Easy peasy.

Reason #2: CoSchedule is an all-in-one calendar dashboard

Despite the features that the actual content calendar boasts, CoSchedule's Saved Calendar views are one of the features I love the most. Currently, I have 5 views:

  • All - a Calendar View that shows everything in my CoSchedule
  • Action Plans - a Calendar View that shoes the events or meetings I have planned in my Google Calendar, all the Projects I have planned, and tasks I need to do.
  • Client #1 - a Calendar View shared with Client #1 that shows the social media content, tasks, and projects I planned for Client #1
  • Client #2 - a Calendar View shared with Client #2 that only shows the social media content scheduled for Client #2's pages
  • Blog - a Calendar view where I can see all the projects and content I planned for my blog

With these views, I can segregate and separate the tasks and projects I need to do for each client or just get an overview of my weekly tasks with my Action Plan calendar view.

Reason #3: CoSchedule can also be a Task and Project Management tool

Aside from being an actual content calendar and scheduling platform, I also use CoSchedule as a Task and Project Management Tool.

When I first used CoSchedule, what I did was create projects and create separate tasks for each project and manually add them to my calendar. After reading their Projects guide, I found out that you can create a list of tasks within the project and schedule it accordingly. Once scheduled, the tasks will automatically appear in your calendar. No more manually adding tasks!

However, unlike other task management and project platforms, it doesn't notify your mobile app of CoSchedule. The mobile app is only for posting. But since I use and review my CoSchedule calendar first thing in the morning, I'm well-versed with the tasks I planned for the day or week.

My CoSchedule Review:

All in all, I have found that CoSchedule is a great way to streamline my digital marketing work. It's also an amazing tool for solo marketers and freelancers like me. This saves me so much time because I don't need to log into all of my own and my client's different accounts separately anymore. It's also an all-in-one platform where I can plan projects and other marketing-related tasks ahead.
